The mission of the Metropolitan St. Louis Taxicab Commission is
to ensure safe, reliable, high-quality transportation to the citizens
and visitors of the St. Louis area. The Commission is dedicated
to providing fair and equitable authority over the provision of
licensing, regulation, and enforcement of vehicle for hire services
that will contribute to the growth and image of the St. Louis Region.
Beginning Monday, March 16, 2015 the Metropolitan Taxicab Commission will begin accepting CCN applications for the premium sedan class for a period of thirty (30) days, ending on April 14, 2015 at 4:00p.m. On March 10, 2015, the Commission voted and passed to add an additional twenty-six (26) permits to the premium sedan class. CCN holders or new applicants can apply for these permits in increments of three or one. New applicants can apply by clicking here and printing out a CCN Application or by stopping by the Metropolitan Taxicab Commission office. Current CCN holders can request additional permits by submitting an email or written request to the office. If the amount of applications and request exceeds the twenty-six (26) permits added, there will be a lottery held at the MTC office on Friday, April 17 at 2:30p.m.
Also beginning on Monday, March 16, 2015 the Metropolitan Taxicab Commission will begin accepting CCN applications for the on call taxicab handicap accessible vehicles for a period of thirty (30) days, ending on April 14, 2015 at 4:00p.m. On June 26, 2014, the Commission voted and passed to add an additional ten (10) permits to the on call handicap accessible vehicle class. CCN holders or new applicants can apply for these permits by clicking here and printing out a CCN Application or by stopping by the Metropolitan Taxicab Commission office. Current CCN holders can request additional permits by submitting an email or written request to the office. Please note that these permits apply to the taxi’s outlined in Chapter 13 of the vehicle for hire code and are part of the ongoing pilot program. If request for permits exceeds the ten permits added a lottery will be held at a to be determined date to award these permits or CCN’s.

The Square Credit Card Reader is an approved device of the MTC. CCN Holders must approve use of the device and submit to the Commission documentation of each driver permitted to use the device, as reflected in the Director's rules.

Driver Licensing Hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm (Drivers arriving after 4:00pm will not be processed on the same day)
Other Business: The MTC office is accessible by APPOINTMENT ONLY on Tuesday and Thursday. No business will be conducted on a walk-in basis.
(The office will no longer accept personal checks for payment of fees. The only form of payment will be money order, debit / credit card , or CCN holder business check.)
CCN Holder’s are allowed to institute a surcharge for a cleanup fee up to $200.00 for soiling the interior of the Vehicle for Hire with bodily fluids. The amount and conditions of such charge must be prominently displayed in the passenger compartment of the Vehicle for Hire where it is easily in view. The signage must be approved by the Director before any such fees become effective. Drivers are forbidden to institute this surcharge without the approved signage in place.
